The One Day of the Year
There is some skepticism arising about the politics surrounding Anzac Day .
In particular the seemingly obligatory visits by politicians and military people to overseas battle sites including Gallipoli etc. These are a relatively recent phenomenon .
We might question the value of what are expensive sojourns.
Are they really necessary?
Might there not be better ways to spend the money, eg perhaps on improving the mental health treatment of the veterans of recent wars.
